Abstract
This researchǰis a study of outdoorǰmean radiant temperature data of canal landscape for recreation
during the evening, a case study of Somthawil canal, the inner city of Mahasarakham ǰThe researcher
surveyed the area of the case study ǰIt is found that the landscape elements of the case study are
influenced by solar radiation and has different material surfaces,ǰwhich causes the temperature of the
landscape elements to change and be different Therefore, the landscape elements are divided according
to the physical characteristics and heat capacity of the material into sixǰobservation points as follows ǰ
asphalt road, concrete sidewalk, concrete ramp, concrete walkways and canals ǰIn addition, the case study
is an area for recreation and support the activities of urban people, according to the city development plan
The researcher surveyed of the activities which occurred in the areaǰof the case studyǰfromǰ7 00 a m ǰ 7 00
p m ǰon 4th 6th May 2018 ǰThe area of the case study has different activities such as traffic by vehicle,
Exercise by running ǰwalking, etc ǰThe factors that affect outdoorǰmean radiant temperature MRT ǰare the
air temperature, wind speed and globe temperature Therefore, the researcher has to measure thoseǰfactorsǰ
at a height of 1 20 meters above the surface of landscape elements which is 6 observation points in the
area of the case study every 1 hour from 7 00 am to 7 00 pm on May 6 10, 2019 to bring the data were
calculated toǰoutdoorǰmean radiant temperature MRT ǰbased on 6 observation points ǰThe results ǰthe first
observation point isǰasphalt road,ǰMRT increased 3 93 ƕC, the second observation point isǰasphalt roadǰ
next to the sidewalk ǰMRTǰincreased 3 97 ƕC, the third observation point is the concrete pavement next
o
to the road ǰMRTǰincreased 4 34 ƕC, the forth observation point isǰconcrete ramp MRTǰincreased 4 17 C,ǰ
the fifth observation point isǰconcrete walkways next to the canal ǰMRTǰincreased 3 97 ƕC and the sixth
observation point is canalsǰMRT increased by 1 35 ƕC. From the data, it is possible to summarize the
application that there should be selected material and design canal landscape elements. Especially the
concrete sidewalk next to the road which is an area that supports people's activities should reduce the
amount of heat radiation by changing materials with low heat radiation coefficient and position the trees
so that it can shade the area.
