Abstract

This research had the objective to study problems caused by the physical environment
characteristics and users' behavior in Baan Kudichin Museum to propose a solution for improving the
exhibition by the corporation Baan Kudichin Museum staff and visitors inside Baan Kudichin Museum to be
in accordance with the design of users' experience. The research methodology employed mixed-method

research. The data were collected by surveying the physical environment of the museum, observing users'
behavior, and interviewing people involved in Baan Kudichin Museum from 2 people, 10 tourists, and 53
visitors with the average age of 32 years old, 29 females (55%), 23 males (43%), and 1 LGBTQ (2%).

Qualitative data were analyzed by content analysis, summarization, grouping, and prioritization. Quantitative
data were analyzed by frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation.
According to the results of the study, it was found that the components of the exhibition consisted
of signs describing the history, photographs, displayed objects, and small-sized models. The displayed

objects were stacked together on the floor, indicating insufficient display cabinets. Children were excited to
appreciate small-sized models telling the museum's story. Children enjoyed the simulated exhibits. Adults
enjoyed reading the describing signs, and some were very interested in reading. The elderly was interested

in the exhibition room but needed assistance from their children. Regarding the top 3 demands to increase
exhibition presentation media from 53 online questionnaire respondents, visitors needed infographic signs
the most (24 people), followed by tangible presentation media (19 people). Visitors wanted a wax figure of

important people in the past (19 people). Visitors had the opinion that lights in the exhibition were too
dark, and lights in some spots were broken. Therefore, the broken lights should be repaired. Visitors
commented that the pictures or displayed objects that were placed on the floor were disordered.

Therefore, the pictures should be placed at eye level, or be placed on easels. Displayed objects should be
placed neatly in the showcase and should not be placed on the floor. Visitors commented that the
describing signs were full of too much and small texts. The signs were also not placed at eye level.
Therefore, the signs should be placed at eye level. If the sign is too small, it should be enlarged evenly,

and the font size should be increased for visitors' readability.
